I just recently purchased Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 10 minutes just to help further my very basic knowledge of SQL. This is the first time I'm attempting to use MySQL Workbench at home and not at school and I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to create or obtain the database that they are using in this book as well as connect to any database. Their instructions on doing this in the book is as follows...'All of the lessons in this book use real SQL statements and real database tables. Appendix A, 'The Example Tables', explains what the example tables are, and provides details on how to obtain them so that you may follow along with the instructions of each lesson'. With that, they get right into explaining Select statements. I've been searching for hours on how to connect to find and connect to this database and have also skimmed through Apendix A which only confused me even more. Can anyone please provide some help on getting me started with this so I can begin these lessons? Thank you!
